Social Media Marketing Myth #3

“Your business needs to be on every platform.”

No.

There are different social media platforms for a reason, for different markets of people.

Twitter: Short writing

Facebook: Promotions, long articles

Instagram: Photos & Videos

Pinterest: Search Engine

LinkedIn: Professional Networking

Snapchat: Personal Photo Sharing, not professional

Above you will see the top social media platforms and what they are best known for. If you are an artist you will utilize the platforms that best show off photos & or videos, you wouldn’t want to be on Twitter.

Another reason why you don’t want to be on ALL platforms merely is you don’t have enough time to devote the proper attention and details to each individual platform. If you are going to present your company on a social platform then you need to be on top of your game, this means responding to customers in a timely manner, being active on the account, business to business networking, content creation, scheduling, the list goes on and on.

What I tell my clients to do is pick the top two or three, I have Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn for my businesses. Personally, however, I use all of those platforms.
