5 Rules For Social Media Etiquette

Say Thank You

In order to succeed in the online world, you must have a certain etiquette just as you do in real life. The way I look at it is if you are hosting an event and someone shows up, you thank them, correct? It is the same way for a blog or social media account. If they took the time to read your blog, share your post, or comment on your article then respond with a thank you.

Respond To Comments

If someone takes the time to read your post & feel that it was valuable enough for a comment to build further on the topic, you should be responding to them within 12 hours. Like I said before if someone walked right up to you and responded to what you said you wouldn’t just ignore them to their face would you? No, so don’t do it online.

Support One Another

As you build relationships with other business owners, bloggers, and marketers you will continue to learn about their growth, just as you would a friend, if you get along with them & support what they do, then actively support them. If they ask to like their Facebook page, do it; if they ask you to read over a blog post you are unsure of, read it. If they share your business projects, share theirs.

Don’t Be Disrespectful

I don’t think I should have to explain this one. You don’t know or understand anyone else’s story but your own, don’t go bashing anyone. Not only is it disrespectful but you won’t like the backlash, things like these moments spread like wildfire on social media.

Ask Questions

If you do not know something, the post is confusing to you, or you just are unsure ask questions in the comments or privately message the writer. Never publicly shame someone for any reason.
