Hashtag Research

Break it down into 3 groups

• 10 million +

• 10 million – 1 million

• 1 million – 200,000

Instagram allows 30 hashtags per photo, but I suggest using 10-15 highly specific to your niche and a few from the first tier.

If you use all hashtags from the first tier you will end up getting lost in the feed meaning you’ll be losing out on engagement potential reach.

Usually, I will use 2-3 from tier one so I do have it in that feed, 3-5 from the second tier and the rest will be highly specific, 1 million and below.

Create a spreadsheet, break it down into your 3 or more groups. Go through Instagram and do the hard work of organizing the hashtags pertaining to your brand and target market.

Make sure to remember that you want to switch up the group of hashtags you use daily to prevent getting shadow banned by Instagram.

Shadow banning – The act of Instagram blocking your content without you even realizing.
